If I told you that we belong together…

May 1, 2011

…would you take my hand and frolick? (Hey! Where you going? hahahaha!) (yeah, where are you going?)

Hi All and Good Morning Everyone!

Coming to you live from another beautiful Spring day and still hot from the last post everything is looking alright. And we have a question: have you ever looked outside right before a storm at night? What color is the sky? For those not in the know, orange is a beautiful color: a deep orange, as if the sun never left and is still lingering during the pitch of night. And thanks to Uncle Ray, we all know a little something about the nighttime:

You know the night time, darling (night and day)
Is the right time (night and day)
To be (night and day)
With the one you love, now (night and day)
Say now oh baby (night and day)
When I come home baby, now (night and day)
I wanna be with the one I love, now (night and day)
You know what I’m thinking of (night and day)

Having just spent hours reminiscing about the beautiful people that comprise silver-screen actors. It’s only natural  to expand from the idea of one and think of two. So who’s In the Mood for Love? A really good actor can carry a movie without anyone else involved. But everything gets better when a second actor is present: a person to return the banter; one who takes and gives jokes; one who catches when another falls; one who laughs when the other falls. Character is defined by our interactions with others. So it is only fair that we do things in pairs. That is not to say that everything should be done in pairs, but the results are generally good when said is done, right? We don’t know, but since movies were mentioned, I, your host Penny P., my blog-partner-in-crime, the Hands of this affair, who was a one time administrator turned author (what do you mean ‘author’? I’m Admin 1, if you forgot), Wash Your Hands and Bawarchi will list our memorable movie couples and dynamic duos.

Let’s get it together
We belong together
Let’s stay it together
We belong together

Together, forever, together
Dedicate my life you see
This is what you mean to me,
Together, forever, together
Just as close two is to three
I want you that close to me

Penny’s Peas in a Pod (in no particular order):

  1. Breakfast at Tiffany’s: Holly Golightly & Paul Varjak – One avoids, the other not so much. Classic. “You know what’s wrong with you, Miss Whoever-You-Are? You’re chicken, you’ve got no guts. You’re afraid to stick out your chin and say, “Okay, life’s a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that’s the only chance anybody’s got for real happiness. You call yourself a free spirit, a wild thing, and you’re terrified somebody’s going to stick you in a cage. Well, baby, you’re already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it’s not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somaliland. It’s wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.”
  2. In the Mood for Love: Su Li-zhen & Chow Mo-wan – brought together by infidelity, the couple that was never meant to be. “It’s me. If there’s an extra ticket… would you go with me?
  3. Wall-E: EVE & Wall-E – even robots get stupid when they fall in love.
  4. Balls of Fury: Maggie Wong & Randy Daytona – I wish Maggie could train me at playing ping-pong. “I’m trying to sacrifice my life for our love. Stop being such a dick!
  5. 2046: Bai Ling & Chow Mo-wan – a torrid affair granted, but Chow Mo-wan leaving Bai Ling, he’s stupid and she’s smokin’! (hahaha…XOXO) “Why can’t it be like before? Please don’t go. Stay with me tonight. Let me borrow you.
  6. The Other Guys: Allen Gamble & Terry Hoitz – no shoes, one wooden gun and big-boy pants. “Let’s do another fresh start because I just want to punch you in the face. Last one.
  7. Shaun of the Dead: Shaun & Ed – Nothing can get between friends…not even zombie-ism. “I’ll stop doing it when you stop laughing!
  8. The Fifth Element: Leeloo and Korben Dallas – together they save the world and she wears bandages for a good 30 minutes. “I don’t know love. I was built to protect not to love, so there is no use for me other than this.
  9. Coming to America: Lisa McDowell & Prince Akeem – he goes to Queens to find a Queen who works in a McDonald’s rip. I love this movie. “Is it just me, or does every woman in New York have a severe emotional problem?
  10. Man on Fire: Creasy & Pita – the man is an artist, honed at his craft. Breaking up this duo created an awesome onslaught of revenge. “I got all the time in the world. *You* don’t, but I do.

Wash Your Hand’s List of two:

  1. Secret (不能說的秘密)–  Lu Xiaoyu & Ye Xianglundraws question mark“?”
  2. Elizabethtown- Claire Colburn & Drew Baylor- “You know, You’re always trying to break up with me, and we’re not even together. ” “I know… We’re not?”
  3. (500) Days of Summer– Summer  & Tom.  “I woke up one morning and I just knew.”  “Knew what?”  What I was never sure of with you.
  4. Lilo & Stitch– They’re a duo alright.
Bawarchi’s List:
  1. Titanic :  Jack Dawson and Rose Dawson..probably one of the best looking on-screen couple
  2. Beauty and the Beast: Belle and Beast- what a love story!!!
  3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind:  Joel Barish and  Clementine Kruczynski- the most romantic movie and one of the most real couple in the most unreal situations.
  4. Starsky and Hutch: David Starsky and Ken Hutchinson “In Bay City, when you cross the line, your nuts are mine.” What more is there to say and love!!!
  5. Anchorman: Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone
  6. Shawshank Redemption: Andy Dufresne and Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding-Most inspiring movie followed by a lot of thinking and further followed by hope…if you show the poster of the movie to the middle America they would not take time in saying “GAY”…having said that while watching movie you don’t feel an Oz of that thought
  7. Toy Story: Woody and Buzz “lightyear”…”classic”
  8. Wall-E: Wall E and Eva-“Robots in love” it can’t get more romantic than this
  9. Mary and Max: Mary Daisy Dinkle and Max Jerry Horowitz-“True gem”
  10. Garden State: Andrew Largeman and Sam-“you have to lose everything to find that one thing which keeps you going”
That would be all! Until next time! Keep watching!

Mommy? Daddy? Can We Go To Disneyland?

March 31, 2011

With $100 per hopper ticket, your mommy and daddy will have to hop their way to 2 or 3 more jobs to afford it honey…sorry. (Haha, I got to go. Just make sure you go to the correct side, or else you be stuck on kiddie rides, but on a bright note, I got a build-a-bear.)

Hi All & Good Morning Everyone!

Coming to you live from the back of our minds, it’s your hosts Wash Your Hands and Penny P. And today we rank the Disney flicks. http://www.disneymovieslist.com/disney-movies.asp (Disney, whoo, Disney!)

Do you believe in magic in a young girl’s heart
How the music can free her, whenever it starts
And it’s magic, if the music is groovy
It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie
I’ll tell you about the magic, and it’ll free your soul
But it’s like trying to tell a stranger ’bout rock and roll

Ever since Disney bough out Pixar, the Disney-Pixar brand has produced classic, after classic, after Cars, after classic. (Someone doesn’t like Cars…I didn’t watch it though, so I guess I second that Cars isn’t a classic.)Everyone is entitled to one miscue or error or bad overall decision when they are on a good run. For example, look at the complete work of Studio Ghibli, it was fantastic until a certain fish-girl (cough* Ponyo*cough, they should grab that fish-girl by her chicken legs and toss her back to the ocean where she belongs.) had to take her first breath on the shore. And some will say that it is our flaws that make us beautiful (isn’t that right Wash Your Hands?) (Yes, flaws make you beautiful. Well it’s the flaws that enhance the overall beauty, like without the flaws, something wouldn’t look as beautiful). Nothing can be perfect. To say that you are a perfectionist also has its flaws in that we, of an imperfect mental state, need to define the concept of perfection in our minds, and that definition of perfection is subjective. For example, a sweater can be knit so that every thread is of equal length, the stitching is impeccable, the weave is whimsical to the eye, but the color does not match a pair of khaki pants, thus that once perfected image of a sweater is now made imperfect due to one flaw. (Then, why not wear jeans? They match everything.) (I prefer the black slacks affair.)It’s more like The Fifth Element. Leeloo was the perfect being. But without Dallas, she and all of Earth would have perished. Thus, our perfect being needed a little something else. So what is perfect? We don’t know, but since we brought up movies, let’s rate the Disney movies [1 being top and 10 (if present) being lowest]:

Holly’s got a heavenly body
Which all stars needs to shine
Holly, she’s a star
Holly’s got a beautiful mind
Holly wants to go to California
Holly would if only Holly could

Penny Picayune’s Lists:

Top Disney Pixar Movies

  1. Wall-E – I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again, what’s wrong with two robots falling in love…nothing, that’s what. It’s computer love, digital love.
  2. The Incredibles – I like comic books, I like family, I like this as a close second.
  3. Up – Seriously, me in five years. I’ve got to get out of this place, Even if it’s the last thing I ever do. Would you like to join me? It will be a beautiful adventure, wouldn’t you agree?
  4. Ratatouille – Everyone would like to believe that they can cook. Thank you Disney-Pixar for telling us that we all can cook.
  5. Monsters Inc. – (That’s who stole your banana!) Boo!
  6. Toy Story 3 – Growing up is hard…thank goodness I’m still watching cartoons.
  7. Finding Nemo – A good ol’ underwater fun time.
  8. A Bug’s Life – Dang ants are so finicky.
  9. Toy Story – I know that this being placed at #9 is a shocker, but to say that the first Pixar was the best means that there cannot be anymore improvement, which if you look above, there definitely has been.
  10. Toy Story 2 – Woody sold to Japan? Knowing that Japan has cooler toys than that.

Top Disney Animated Movies (Non-Pixar)

  1. DuckTales The Movie – He brought a bear? I grew up on DuckTales. He only wanted to be a real boy.
  2. A Goofy Movie – Family fun with my man Goofy.
  3. Alice In Wonderland – A trippy cartoon for Lewis Carroll’s book.
  4. Aladdin – I was all about this when I was a kid on the islands.
  5. The Lion King – The kid ate bugs and still became king.
  6. The Jungle Book – My brother and I wore out the video projector watching this film-reel.
  7. Lilo and Stitch – Takes me back to my island days…minus a small, big-eyed, floppy-ear, blue alien. But we did have aliens. (what aliens?)
  8. Dumbo – Elephants just interest me…Hahahaha! And this one got drunk! Early disney = drug trip.
  9. Pinocchio – If you fake the funk your nose will grow.
  10. Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, James & the Giant Peach – A 3-way tie to end the list. Each memorable.

Top Miyazaki Movies Re-Released by Disney

  1. Princess Mononoke – This was the first Miyazaki film I ever saw, and I have been hooked ever since. Anyone who absolutely dislikes this film absolutely hates nature and people…they definitely hate people.
  2. Spirited Away – Growing up is hard…this movie makes it look so much fun.
  3. Howl’s Moving Castle – Calcipher almost died like 20 times yet the castle was still moving, even when it was just the floor on legs.
  4. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind – What can I say? The girl can glide and kick-ass.
  5. My Neighbor Totoro – I love family.
  6. Kiki’s Delivery Service – If training meant that you had to leave home and live as a part of a community, would you start training? Then why are you in school still? (Assimilation and growing up.)
  7. Porco Rosso – Say what? A pig can fly? And fight wars? You don’t say?
  8. Laputa: Castle in the Sky – A beautiful film. I believe that there is a slight difference between the Disney release and my region 9 version.
  9. Ponyo – It’s little mermaid but japanese. (It wishes it was Little Mermaid, too bad Ariel got there first!)

Top Disney Movies (Non-Animated)

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl – Let’s take pirates that have never existed and make a visually-pleasing movie about them. OK! Back in the day when Keira was cool. (XOXO hahaha). (aww, someone has a “thing” for Keira!)
  2. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – I’d watch this flick over and over again just to see the painted ship in the middle of sea reflecting sky. It was flying through space!
  3. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest Fleeting? As in say, a passing fancy? That is a gorgeous line!
  4. Cool Runnings – John Candy as the coach for the Jamaican bob-sled team. (Finally a non-pirate movie.)
  5. Tron – Before computers were cool.
  6. Flight of the Navigator – The ship look nice.
  7. The Shaggy Dog –  Sometimes what you see as a child follows you for the rest of your life.
  8. The Love Bug – That Buggy was cut in half and still finished the race. (Punch buggy white…[punch] Wash Your Hands arm! Hahahaha there was a sequel Herbie Goes Bananas…he stole it!) (Haha…who’s Herbie?)
  9. The Muppet Christmas Carol – I just like this one.
  10. College Road Trip – Say what? Martin Lawrence in a Disney flick? Oh yeah!

Wash Your Hands’ Lists:

My all-time favorite Disney Pixar Movies:

  1. Monsters, Inc– Oh Boo! you were oh so cute! I doubt you’ll steal my banana.
  2. The Incedibles–  One of the few superhero movies I can stand. I think it’s the family aspect or the fact that it’s animated and not real people. I don’t particularly like real people. (hahahahaha! That’s right! You love real people!)
  3. Finding Nemo– Bubbles! My bubbles… hahaha
  4. Up– I’d want a balloon house. Take me on your adventure in five years, Penny. (Will do.)
  5. Wall-E– I like Wall-E’s house, or whatever one calls it, all those little trinkets. Also Eveeeeeee-a!
  6. Ratatouille- Yes, anybody can cook, but I don’t think I’ll be dining at a place where a mouse cooks. No matter how clean they seem to be, I’m sure they’re carrying some disease that they’re just waiting to spread.
  7. Toy Story– Actually, I’m not particularly fond of this movie. Of the Toy Story trilogy, this is the only one I’ve seen, so it’s just on the list cause I saw it.
  8. And the rest I haven’t seen, but I will someday and maybe my list will change then.

My all-time favorite Disney Movies (Non-Pixar):

  1. Mulan– “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.”
  2. The Lion King– My first Disney film ever, (I think)! And, I just can’t wait to be king!
  3. The Little Mermaid– Come on, just kiss the damn girl, so that she can tell you, she’s the one and you two can live happily ever after.
  4. Lilo and Stitch– I want a blue alien with super powers that also doubles as my dog, please.
  5. Pocahontas– Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
  6. Beauty and the Beast- Talking utensils might be nice, but imagine being the said utensils, eh!
  7. Tangled– I really liked some of the scenes they had, and they brought back the singing like old Disney classics.
  8. Cinderella– Every girl’s dream? Have prince charming searching high and low with only a tiny glass slipper.
  9. Chicken Little– The sky’s falling! The sky’s falling!
  10. Atlantis: The Lost Empire– I believe I like it, but my DVD no longer plays the movie, so yeah!

My favorite Miyazaki Movies (some not by Disney, but I saw them, so they belong here and Disney should re- release them):

  1. Whispers of the Heart– I have no idea if this was ever released by Disney or not, but I really enjoyed this film (good, but unfortunately, not a Disney re-release.)
  2. Howl’s Moving Castle– Calcipher! Calcifer! Oh, the little falling star!
  3. Princess Mononoke– I liked the onion like characters, don’t remember what they are.
  4. Spirited Away– My first Miyazaki movie, well not really, but the first time, I noticed that it was by Miyazaki
  5. Ocean Waves– Don’t know if it’s Disney either, but it was pretty good, too!
  6. Kiki’s Delivery Service- Well, if I was a witch, I wouldn’t start a delivery service, I’d rather mix potions.
  7. My neighbor Totoro– I didn’t really finish the film, I think it’s cause people kept forcing me to watch it. I won’t like it if I don’t decide to watch it on my own.
  8. Only Yesterday- I don’t think Disney released this either, but I saw it.
  9. All the rest I have yet to see, but will someday also
  10. Ponyo– It’s position will not change anytime soon, unless Studio Ghibli did some other horrible thing in the past that I’ve yet to see.

Top Disney Movies (Non-Animated):

  1. The Parent Trap (The Lindsay Lohan one)- Before LiLo went crazy, she was a good actress.
  2. Enchanted- “A little working song”, haahahaha… I have a thing for singing in movies.
  3. National Treasure– I like history-based mysteries. There’s something very intriguing about them.
  4. National Treasure: Book of Secrets– One of the few sequels to a movie that’s good. When you think Disney, all their other sequels sucked, trust me, I watched a lot of Disney sequels. (
  5. The Princess Diaries- Well, it has Anne Hathaway…
  6. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl– The only Pirates movie I’ve seen to date. It had Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. It had lots of hype, too, but did I really get the movie? No, so why’s it here? cause I watched it.

2night, hey, I’m a movie star
I see myself on a silver screen, huh
2night, it don’t matter who U are
I’m the only star on the scene
U know what I mean?

We thank you for viewing/reading and we hope that you come back for more. Until then, have a beautiful time! (Penny, we should have one for Disney movies we didn’t like. You can complain about Cars and I can complain about crappy Disney sequels.) And that will be all folks! Until then, have fun and the gang will see you at Cooking-Night #5.
